Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe was born South London, England into an ethnically diverse family. She is English but her father was Nigerian. She was born on the southern part of London Council Estate. She was a student at The Brit School aged 14. In London she attended The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art where her acting certificate was earned. She appeared on stage in many productions while attending school such as the role of King Henry V, as Princess Katherine, and Wuthering Heights, as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe's acting career began with Storm Damage. She has appeared as a guest on Teachers Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's debut film appearance was Woody Allen's 2007 Cassandra's Dream opposite Colin Farrell, Ewan McGregor. Following that success her role was Elisha in the one-off BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN, and appeared in the six episodes of Trexx and Flipside as Ollie. In 2008 she landed Bambi's part on the ITV2 Drama series Secret Diary of a Call Girl. The actress was on both series 2 and 3. Madekwe was a part of the comedic How to Lose Friends and Alienate people (2008). Her credits in theatre comprise Little Sweet Thing by Roy Williams and Flight Path by David Watson.
Madekwe's US debut was in 2009, with the thriller The Beautiful Life. The series aired only two episodes before it was removed from The CW. In February of 2011 she was cast as Ashley Davenport in the ABC drama series Revenge. Madekwe was in the episodes of the series' second season as the show's regular. However, in May of 2013, it was announced that news broke that Madekwe will quit the show due to her guest appearance on the premiere episode of its third season. Between 2014 and 2016she appeared in Salem on the CW as Tituba. Madekwe got married to her long-time partner, Iddo. The two have collaborated in the show Secret Diary of a Call Girl, and he is also a part of the cast on the show Salem.
Ashley Leggat was born in Hamilton, Ontario, into an extended family of. Her family included both parents Roy and Patty together with four brothers who were older than them: Brett, Todd and Bram twins, Rob, and Brett. Ashley's brothers, who were all very physically active, were all playing hockey during the winter months and played baseball in the summer, so she basically grew up in parks and arenas. Ashley didn't walk, instead she danced. When she was two and half she discovered Baby Ballet. Ashley was enthralled by dance immediately after that. Ashley continued to dance competitively until her high-school graduation in top divisions such as tap, Jazz, Ballet Pointe, Acrobatics, Pointe Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, and much more. Ashley was awarded the best soloist awards at all of the main dance contests, including, International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 5-6-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, and Dance, Dance, Dance among others.
