Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe comes from a multi-cultural family. Her birthplace was in South London. She has a mother who is English and her father Nigerian. Her family was raised on the south London community estate, and at the age of 14, attended The Brit School. She attended an academy called the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London in which she earned an BA in acting. The stage she appeared in was several productions as a student such as King Henry V, as Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights, as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe started her career as an actress with the film Storm Damage. In the years since she has appeared in Teachers and Doctors. Madekwe made her debut motion picture in the 2007 Woody Allen movie Cassandra's Dream, opposite Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor. Following this acclaim, she appeared as Elisha on her role on the BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN and was featured for six seasons Trexx as well as Flipside. Madekwe played Bambi in the ITV2 drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe also played the title character in How to lose friends & betray people that was aired by Sony Pictures Entertainment 2008. The credits on stage for Madekwe are Little Sweet Thing and Flight Path.
Madekwe first aired in the US in the US with The Beautiful Life. The drama program aired at The CW for only two episodes before being cancelled. In February of 2011 she was cast as Ashley Davenport in the ABC drama series Revenge. Madekwe had appeared in all episodes of the show's initial two seasons as an regular. However, in May of 2013, it was announced that announcement was made that she would leave the show after her appearance as a guest on the first episode of the series' third season. In 2014 and 2016, she starred in the role of Tituba on the show Salem. Her long-time friend, Iddo, married Madekwe in June of 2012. Alongside Secret Diary of a Call Girl They have also collaborated with each other on Salem and Iddo Goldberg had a part alongside her in that TV show.
Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario with an extended family. She was raised by her parents Roy and Patty and four older brothers: Rob, Brett, and twins Todd and Bram. Ashley lived in stadiums or baseball fields because her four athletic brothers all played hockey and baseball as well as both during winter and summer. Ashley was never able to walk, but she danced. When she turned two-and-a-half she took up Baby Ballet and fell in love. Ashley became a dancer immediately. Ashley participated in the top divisions of tap, jazz ballet, hip hop, Acrobatics, Lyrical Musical Theatre and pointe, until she finished high school. Ashley was awarded the top soloist award at every major dance competition, including International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance, to name just some.
